Mission and Support

Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective is a non-profit movement arts organization dedicated to supporting and connecting the Indianapolis community through shared movement experiences – because every human can dance. We are committed to creating a safe, inviting space for the Indianapolis community to engage with movement in many different ways, fostering curiosity, exploration, and play.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Since GivingTuesday was founded in 2012, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Facebook has announced that they will be matching up to 7 million USD in donations made on Facebook on GivingTuesday. The match begins at 8:00am EST on Tuesday, December 3rd. Donations are matched dollar for dollar on a first-served basis until 7 million USD in eligible donations are made on Facebook. If you would like to support our small, but mighty organization on GivingTuesday and make IMAC eligible for the Facebook match, please donate here. Last year, Facebook reached their match ceiling shortly after 9:00am EST so donating right at 8:00am EST is IMAC’s best chance of benefiting from the match.

Why should you support IMAC?

  • We cultivate a non-competitive, inclusive environment where people of diverse interests and backgrounds can engage with dance/movement in a safe and supported way.
  • We are the only place in the city that offers somatic movement practices alongside traditional dance to cultivate well being of the whole self – body, mind, and spirit.
  • We are a resource for Indianapolis’ artists. Through our Makers Lab program, we support artists and fellow arts organizations by providing them with the space and time to learn, grow, get inspired, experiment, and create new work.
  • We invite nationally and internationally recognized visiting artists to Indianapolis to provide accessible, professional, and innovative training opportunities for artists and the community at large. This year we welcomed Maayan Sheinfeld of Batsheva Dance Company, Chicago physical comedian and clown Molly Brennan, and New York-based dance artist Jess Pretty.
  • We value collaboration and partner with a variety of community organizations. Our partners include, but are not limited to:
    Martin Luther King Community Center
    Newfields
    Girls, Inc.
    NoExit Performance
    Indy Convergence
    Butler University
    Ball State University
    Indiana University, Bloomington
