At Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective we offer a wide range of classes accessible to all experience levels and interests. Most of our classes are geared toward adults but a few are open to movers ages 13 and up. Many classes are open to drop ins, and most are offered on an ongoing weekly basis. Visit each class’ individual class page for details.

Registration and payment for class sessions can be made online. Many of our classes also accept drop-ins and payments can be made at the door by cash or check, online, or by purchasing a 5 or 10 class card. Please know that all online payments will incur processing fees. If you would like register and pre-pay for a class session or individual class via cash/check, please email to make arrangements.

Pop Up Hip Hop with Lauren Gendron – Lauren Gendron of Echo Dance Company brings this adult workshop to IMAC for beginner to intermediate dancers who enjoy chill Hip Hop and R&B music. Incorporating elements of hip hop dance and street jazz, participants will learn choreography that compliments and enhances the message and lyrics of the song choice. Participants will be pushed to explore the possibility of using hip hop dance as a storytelling device. This workshop will include a brief warm up, learning original choreography, and end with a cool down. Come ready to move, to learn, and to have fun!

Capoeira – This class is geared toward practitioners of all levels, from absolute beginners to the very experienced. Capoeira is a dynamic, acrobatic, and playful mix of expressive movement and martial elements. It blends elements of dance, improvisation, self-expression, attacks, evades, feints, acrobatics, pantomime, and music.

Dance Church™ – Dance Church™ is an all-abilities movement class that offers a fun and inclusive approach to dancing. Designed for people of all shapes and sizes, backgrounds and identities, Dance Church™ is a communal space for people who want to move their bodies. Dance Church™ was created in Seattle by Kate Wallich in 2010. Classes are hosted regularly in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and New York and now Indy!


Argentine Tango – Explore connection and communication with your partner as we lay the basic foundational steps of this improvisational partner dance. Drop-ins are welcome, and no partner is necessary; we encourage rotating partners in class.

PWYC Intermediate Modern Technique – Pay what you can to join this community of movers in an Int/Adv class taught in rotation by IMAC staff and guest artists.  Great for experienced dancers looking to move.

EmbodieDance – Lani Weissbach draws on Eastern and Western practices in this immersive movement experience designed for ALL levels of movers.  Open your senses, deepen your intuition and widen  your movement palette.

Beginning/Intermediate Tap – Get a great tap workout while learning  basic rhythms and funky combinations in a variety of tap styles.  Taught by Deanna Garner of Circle City Tap Company.


Introduction to Modern Dance Techniques – This class will introduce movers, even absolute beginners, to classical dance techniques like Ballet as well as Modern dance techniques like Doris Humphrey’s Fall and Recovery and Release technique. Taught by Randy Talley.

Bollywood – A fusion of Indian traditional, classical, and modern styles that is just plain fun!  Usha Sirimalle teaches technique in an energetic environment that will have you smiling throughout the class.

Belly Dance – Liz Wray’s fun and self-affirming environment will have you loving your body and how it moves.  Beginners discover new muscles as they break down steps.  Advanced students explore more complex, layered choreographies.
